The law on the prohibition of representations with wild animals was approved in Portugal

The Portuguese Parliament on Thursday approved a law prohibiting the performance of wild animals in the circuses of the country, Interfax writes, citing a message from the Portuguese side of animal protection PAN and environmentalists on Instagram. The new law concerns a ban on participation in circus performances of wild animals, in particular, lions, tigers, elephants, camels and zebras. In accordance with this law, over the next six years there will be a “transitional period” during which circuses must voluntarily transfer wild animals to specialized shelters.
