Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov spoke about a plan for the transition to a visa-free regime between Russia and Japan, writes the news portal Interfax. Lavrov said that no obstacles to creating a simplified visa relationship were found. The beginning of a loyal visa policy with Japan can be a visa-free exchange of tourists living on Sakhalin and Hokkaido. Further, visa liberalization will be aimed at businessmen, athletes, tourists. Also, a simplified mode will be introduced for cultural exchange groups. It is worth noting that the ultimate goal is the complete abolition of visas between Russia and Japan.
