Massive protests and disorders caused by the nomination of Serzh Sargsyan to the post of Prime Minister of the country, has had a strong impact on the tourist flow: not only Armenia's image reduced as a popular destination for travelers, but also appeared serious traffic jams in the capital. According to Oleg Karakhanyan, Director of a large travel agency in Erevan, the number of tourists is reducing on 10% every day due to the current situation. Accordingly, the country suffers significant economic losses. Minister of economic development and tourism Suren Karayan, in his turn, stated that many countries urge their citizens to refuse to visit Armenia for security reasons. The Minister refused to comment on the amount of losses caused by mass protests in the tourism sector. Despite the fact that the residents of Erevan consider all happening as “peaceful actions”, there are already injured and wounded people. Therefore, it remains to hope that the situation will stabilize in the closest time.
