Foreigners entering Russia will have their fingerprints taken. Olga Kirillova, Head of the Main Department for Migration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, announced plans for introducing fingerprinting, TASS reports. The Ministry of Internal Affairs plans to introduce fingerprinting of foreign guests at checkpoints across the Russian state border, or directly in the country after arrival. According to O. Kirillova, at present the Ministry of Internal Affairs is working out mechanisms for collecting fingerprints together with the authorities. In this issue, both domestic and international experience will be taken into account. Now people who arrived in Russia in search of asylum, who applied for citizenship of the Russian Federation, as well as citizens who applied for a temporary residence permit, work permit or patent, will have their fingerprints taken, TASS reports.
